Painting small studies is something I can lose myself in. Playing around with colour, shapes and texture on a small scale is somehow freeing. I usually spend a bit of time with studies to investigate the interaction between elements, composition and overall feel, before committing to painting the piece on a larger scale. These are all unique, original paintings by me, generally painted with acrylics (sometimes mixed media) on offcut archival watercolour paper or canvas. As per Banksia Vista II, this place holds very special memories for me. It’s on a headland not far from where I live, and it’s been the place I’ve gone to many times over the years for solace, for healing, for recharging. This is more of a view to the North.
