One of the things I like about being at the beach late in the afternoon is how quickly the light changes. Because there’s a large flat piece of sand and the dunes behind it, transition happens very quickly. But there’s a lovely shift from warm to cool that happens in the dunes, and there’s a painting in every one of those moments, even if you’re looking at the same thing. Five minutes before this picture, the spinifex grass in the foreground of this painting was lit by the sun. And now, it’s moved into those lovely subdued, muted tones. It’s all good.
