One of the great things about workshops is you get to see a different part of the world, meet different people, and usually when the workshop is finished it’s quite late in the afternoon. I make a ritual of going to a headland (if there is one) and looking at the ocean late in the afternoon, and invariably find a painting or something interesting. These images were inspired by the Woolgoolga Headland, it’s quite prominent and faces back to the North West, which means a lot of sun gets in around the rocks. the thing that attracted me initially to these pictures, was the lovely purple/blue shadows being cast by the rocks, and as always, the image expands out from there. Light, shape, colour. Wonder.
