Casuarinas are disconcerting trees. On the one hand, they cast lovely, beautiful delicate nuanced shadows across the sand. On the other hand, they cover those same nuanced paths with diabolical sharp little seeds. At least when you’re painting that nuance, you don’t have to experience the hot burning sand and the lego-like attacks to the soles of you feet. Having said all of that, it’s all wonderful.
