Painting small studies is something I can lose myself in. Playing around with colour, shapes and texture on a small scale is somehow freeing. I usually spend a bit of time with studies to investigate the interaction between elements, composition and overall feel, before committing to painting the piece on a larger scale. These are all unique, original paintings by me, generally painted with acrylics (sometimes mixed media) on offcut archival watercolour paper or canvas. This spot doesn’t get waves all the time but last time I went to the Solomons it was SUPER fun. This isn’t a study. Its a reliving of one of my life’s great moments. Good waves, great place, and time with good friends.
