Painting small studies is something I can lose myself in. Playing around with colour, shapes and texture on a small scale is somehow freeing. I usually spend a bit of time with studies to investigate the interaction between elements, composition and overall feel, before committing to painting the piece on a larger scale. These are all unique, original paintings by me, generally painted with acrylics (sometimes mixed media) on offcut archival watercolour paper or canvas. This is a view of the village, from memory, called Rita Mala. I didn’t have my camera on me that day, and all the proportions are wrong. But I just had to document in some way, what I had seen. There is SO MUCH colour there.
